todays Stamp Set Showcase it ...
TRAVELER
This fab, vintage/steampunk style stamp set was top of my list when I had my first peek at the new Stampin Up Catalogue. I am, very much, a vintage girl at heart. If you couple that with Stampin Up's brilliant decision to start selling Kraft card, and I was in heaven, he he.
I used Lost Lagoon and Kraft card for the layers, along with lost lagoon 3/8" stitched satin ribbon to finish the card.
BUT
Did you notice the ships reflection in the water? Well, I have seen reflection techniques, but it never seemed to work to my satisfaction when I tried the various techniques out there (no doubt it was me missing out key steps!) but I had a 'Ping' moment when this stamp set arrived with my recent Demonstrator Order. And that Ping moment was, could I use the large stamp block in the Undefined Carving refill kit to make the reflected image. The simple answer is yes! and here is how I did it.
- I took the largest lino block in the refill kit and mounted it on it's corresponding wood block.
- I stamped the ships image using black Stazon onto the Refill kit's mounted block
- I then stamped the reflected image direct onto the Kraft card, pressing firmly. Be sure to do this quickly or the stazon ink will dry before you stamp.
- Rotate the cardctock 108 degrees
- Now to stamp the main image. Firstly take your Stamp a ma jig, line up the image sheet with the stampa ma jig, and stamp the ship onto the image sheet
- Turn the image sheet upside down, and almost line up the reflection with the main image (to give a more realistic appearance of the water displacement), and stamp the main image.
- Add some colour to to the Liner (I used Blackberry Bliss). You could do this by using a Stampin Write Marker Pen, or a Blender Tool and ink pad.
give it a go and let me know how you get on?
