And now for that Step By Step Tutorial

Begin by making your Card Base by trimming a piece of Thicker A4 Whisper White Cardstock to 10.5 cms x 30 cms
Using the scoring blade on your Stampin Trimmer, score the long side at 15 cms
Fold and run your Bone Folder along the fold to give a crisp edge
TIP
Always fold away from the score line as this prevents the cardstock fracturing along the fold
Put your card base to one side to prevent contamination by inks

Next, trim a piece of Mint Macaron Cardstock to 10.1 cms x 14.6 cms
You will use this to mat (layer) the card front

Now trim a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to 9.7 cms x 14.5 cms
Cut a small section of a Tea Lace Doily and wrap it around the top right corner of the Whisper White Panel. Adhere to the back of the cardstock using a little Tombow Glue or Some Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Lay this panel face up on a piece of scrap paper or your grid paper

Now for the stamping

TIP
Always select an acrylic block that is closest in size to your clear mount or photopolymer stamp, without it overlapping the sides of the stamp. This will give a more even pressure when stamping, and reduces the likelihood of inking up the parts of the stamp you don't want ink on (usually the outside edges of the rubber stamp)

Mount the sentiment of your choice from the Sassy Salutations Stamp Set in the bottom left of the cardstock, using Tip Top Taupe Classic Ink Pad.

Now select 5 of the hexagonal stamps from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set
Mount the first of these onto an acrylic block
Use a combination of Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe Classic Ink Pads to make your 'hive' pattern

REMEMBER
to clean your rubber stamp with a Baby Wipe before changing colour, and stamp off any residual ink onto a piece of kitchen paper,
Condition your stamp with Stampin Mist, before putting your rubber stamps away, to prolong their life.
Once you have created your hive pattern, you now need to select two of the stamps you have used, and using the same colour ink pads as before, stamp one of each pattern onto some scrap Whisper White Cardstock making sure you have a flat edge toward the edge of the cardstock to make punching easier.

Now, open your Hexagonal Punch, and with the base of the punch facing upwards (so you can see the hole in the punch, slot your cardstock with the stamped image facing you, between the cutting plates of the punch. Line up the edges with the punch, and PUNCH. Repeat this with your second stamped image.
Pop a couple of Stampin Dimensionals on the back of each of your punched pieces, and adhere them to your card front, lining them up over the top of the stamped images you placed on the card front. This will add dimension to your card.
Finish with using a little Chrystal Effects as a glue to adhere one of the co-ordinating In colour Blossom Accents over the Tea Lace Doily

Adhere the card front to the Mint Macaron Layer (Mat) using Fast Fuse Adhesive or Tombow,
Apply Stampin Dimensionals to the back of the layered card front, and mount onto your Card Base

And there you have it ... your card is made!! Well Done!

Stamp Set Showcase Week 7 (4)

Welcome to another day of

  CHALK TALK

And today's card make has been combined with one of Stampin Up's newest Textured Impressions Embossing Folders

 (TIEF) LOVELY LACE

And today you will be sponging your own background and then using a Dry Embossing technique

You will need to make a Whisper White card blank by trimming a piece of cardstock to 14.8cms x 21cms; score the long side at 10.5cms, fold and burnish with a bone folder.

Trim a piece of Kraft cardstock to 14.3cms x 10cms
Trim a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 13.8cms x 9.5cms.

Now to make your background by taking that piece of Whisper White cardstock and blending a combination of the following ink pads and applying the inks using Stampin Sponges. Keep some areas where the colour is pure, but also allow the different inks to blend together to create additional colours on the background. I have used the following ink pads to create my background:

Calypso Coral
Pear Pizzaz
So Saffron
Pool Party
Melon Mambo

Now for the dry embossing. Pop your sponged background into the Lovely Lace TIEF (sizzix logo on the top) and with the fold of the TIEF going into the Texture Boutique first, put the embossing folder between the embossing plates and run through the machine
Remove the cardstock.
Add a piece of Venetian Crochet Trim and some Linen Thread to the lower third of the card (Landscape position).
Mount this onto the Kraft Card, and mount that onto your Card Blank.
Stamp the sentiment on Melon Mambo ink and use the residual ink on your sponges to create some colour to the background. Die cut through your Big Shot (long Think Label).
Die cut 2 more labels from Kraft Card. Use these to create a frame for your sentiment. Cut the 1st die cut Kraft label in half vertically, and the second needs to be cut in half on the horizontal
Using Tombow MP Glue, adhere the corresponding pieces of the Kraft labels to the back of your sentiment label, leaving just a little visible.
Apply Stampin Dimensionals to the reverse of the layered label & adhere to the card.

I have used gilding was to finish my card, with a gentle touch of my finger to the embossed areas of the card. If you do not have this, then you can get a similar effect by using Memento Gold Ink Pad and finger daubers (also available via my online store)

I hope you enjoy making your version of this card, and I  look forward to seeing them

Happy Stamping

Stamp Set Showcase Weel 7 (3)

I was planning for a class and wanted to give my attendees something nice but was running really short on time, and so sent my hubby out for some of those  some nibbles from the man who makes exceedingly good cakes and that got me to thinking.
Since I was using the Tag Topper Punch in class, that perhaps i could make a sweet little box for their cake

So here is my take on this cake presentation box (for individual cakes)
It uses very little product but is a really sweet little way of saying 'Thanks' or 'For You' etc, but since this is Chalk Talk week, it had to be the 'I Can't Thank You Enough' stamp

So here we go with the tutorial

Begin with a piece of 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP)

I have used the PEar Pizzaz chevron paper from the Subtles Paper Stack

Trim the DSP to 15cms x 30cms

Now get out your Scoring Tool with the Metric Plate in place

Before scoring, just one quick note - be very gentle with the scoring tool otherwise  the DSP will tear. So use the larger end with gentle pressure)

With the long side at the top, score at 5, 10, 20, & 25, cms
(2", 4", 8" & 10")

Fold and burnish all score lines

The shaded areas above show where you need to remove sections
(i.e. the 4 2" squares at the four corners)

The only cutting, is  to the second score line either side of the middle section where i have drawn the tag topper on the above diagram.

Below is what you should be left with

(yes this is the same piece of DSP, it is just the reverse side of the Chevron paper earlier).

One at a time, insert each of the longest tabs into the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, and punch

You will now be able to construct the box by folding up the 3 longer pieces, and bring round the short pieces at each end, overlap them and glue them with Tombow MP Glue so you have a rectangular box.

Cut a Tea Lace Doily in half and make a small fold along each straight edge so you can fold it over
the side of the box. Stick to the box with  Sticky Strip. Repeat on the opposite side of the box.

Insert your cake slice.

Thread a piece of Pear Pizzaz Chevron Ribbon through the tag topper holes and tie a bow or a knot

To finish, Stamp the 'I Can't Thank You Enough' stamp from Chalk Talk stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock in Chocolate Chip ink. Cut out with your paper snips.
Apply Stampin Dimensionals to the reverse side
Die cut the smaller label in the Chalk Talk Framelits Die Set in Wild Wasabi cardstock

Pierce a hole in the top of the tag, thread with Linen Thread and tie a big bow around the Chevron Ribbon.

How pretty would these look on a vintage Cake Stand???

See you tomorrow & enjoy your slice of cake .... well you have to fill the box now, don't you?

Happy Stamping
