Watercolour Dove of Peace & Baby Wipe Swipe Technique

Happy Wednesday to you all
I hope you are all going to enjoy the card I am sharing with your today
as is combines a watercolour technique using Aqua Painters, and then the residual ink not used in the dove has been picked up onto a baby wipe and used to create the background paper in a paid pattern.

The DOVE OF PEACE Stamp has been really popular
And it suites so many different colouring and embossing possibilities, so you can really have some fun with this stamp.
For today's card, I masked the sentiment that comes as part of the rubber stamp, and in it's place I used the Christmas stamp from the TEENY TINY SENTIMENTS stamp set

The new Archival Basic Back and Basic Grey ink pads are what you need for preventing inks from bleeding outside the stamped lines.
You may remember the problems with the old Basic Black and Basic Grey Classic Ink Pads, as they smudged, and took forever to dry ... well, no more of that now!

And here is the tutorial

  1. Begin by making your 6" square card base by trimming a piece of Thicker A4 Whisper White Cardstock to 6" x 12". Score the long side using the Scoring Blade on your Stampin Trimmer at 6", fold along the score line and make a crisp fold by using your Bone Folder along the fold. Put to one side to avoid contamination of the card base from the inks you will be using.
  2. Trim a piece of Watercolour Paper  to 9 cms x 9 cms  dampen the entire surface with water using either your Aquapainter, or Stampin Spritzer . Moisten the other side too to avoid warping of the paper as it dries. Place a couple of drops into Pallette wells, of the following ink Refills: Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Real Red & Cherry Cobbler. Paint the watercolour paper with wash of Crushed Curry ink using your Aquapainter . Allow the paper to almost dry, and then stamp with the Dove Of Peace stamp using the Basic Black Archival Ink, after masking the sentiment using some masking tape. Remember to remove the masking tape before stamping.
  3. Now you can paint your dove using your Aqua Painter and a combination of Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Ink Refills. Build the colour in layers until you reach the effect you like. repeat with the leaf and the Old Olive ink.  Leave the paper to dry.
  4. Now, Mat (layer ) your Dove of Peace onto a piece of Real Red Cardstock, measuring 9.4 cms x 9.4 cms using a couple of strips of Fast Fuse Adhesive to the reverse of the Dove of Peace panel. Add some Stamping Dimensionals to the reverse side of the panel.
  5. Now, trim a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to 12 cms x 12 cms, Take a Baby Wipe and pick up any residual ink in the Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Inks you were using earlier. Swipe the baby wipe across the Whisper White Panel in a Plaid Pattern. Mat onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock measuring 12.4 cms x 12.4 cms.Wrap a strip of Gold Glitter Ribbon, secure on the back of the panel using some Fast Fuse Adhesives. Add some Stampin Dimensionals to the back of the panel.
  6. Now all that is left, is the assembly and a little stamping. Using the Archival Black ink pad, stamp the Christmas Sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set in the bottom right corner of the card base.
  7. Mount the larger panel onto the card base. Then mount the Dove of Peace Panel at an angle onto top ... use the Stampin Dimensionals you placed on the back of the panels to stick the panels on.
  8. Add a tiny Basic Pearl to the eye if the Dove, and 3 Iced Rhinestone Embellishments to the top left corner of the larger pane, and the bottom right.
